Under the Shade Tree, Inc. was created to connect individuals and families with vital community resources that address such needs as homelessness, mental health, addiction, abuse and/or neglect, generational poverty, economic barriers, and beyond.
We are dedicated to fostering a network of support that embodies Christ’s teachings by creating connections between the help and services available and those in need. Under the Shade Tree, Inc. is devoted to serve as a beacon of hope and compassion to every person in our community, ensuring they experience the dignity, grace, and transformative power of God’s love in their journey towards healing and wholeness.
Additionally, we serve to gather funds and grants for ministering to the people and communities appointed by the Holy Spirit.
A scientist placed fleas in a jar and covered it with a lid. At first, the fleas jumped high, but they kept hitting the lid. Over time, they adjusted their jumps to avoid hitting it.
After a few days, the scientist removed the lid, but the fleas continued jumping at the same restricted height, never attempting to escape - even though nothing was stopping them.
The fleas in a jar experiment is a story about learned limitations.
We CAN overcome our perceived limitations. We can’t necessarily jump 100 times our size, but we can jump higher than most of the difficulties we face in life.
That said, we do have limitations. Limitations we’re born with, our physical limitations, limitations of our surroundings, and limitation of law and order. All of these are limitations we have to live within. Even with those limitations we can thrive and live a life of joy and happiness.
There are many inspiring stories of people who made the best of the life given to them and rose above the limitations handed down to them.
Under the Shade Tree, Inc. ministers to those who need a helping hand in life. By showing them how to look beyond the situation they’re in and find solutions to overcome, adapt, and even conquer life. We operate with a Christ centered focus, thereby teaching them how to let go and overcome doubt, fear, anxiety, trauma, addictions, helplessness, poverty, homelessness, etc.
Under the Shade Tree, Inc. wants to show the world, one community at a time, how a life in Jesus Christ will transform, not just their lives, but the lives of generations to come. Right now, there are people all over the world who live in poverty, commit suicide, have addictions, and live inside that perceived reality of limitations, even among those who believe in Jesus Christ.
We understand that we can’t help everyone. But if we can help just one, we have helped more than if we do nothing. We don’t just want to help them with their immediate needs, we want to teach and disciple them to prosper in life. If we show one how to overcome, and that one shows another, and so on, then thousands of lives will be changed.
This is the Great Commission.
We accomplish this through outreach, ministry, and creating connections between programs, organizations, ministries, and even government agencies that are already helping people. These connections are utilized to help people navigate what can seem like a labyrinth. One organization offers help in one form but doesn’t get them all the help they need. They have to get from there to another group, program, or agency that will help them further. When they reach the limits of the help in front of them, they see the difficulties like the fleas saw the lid on the jar, or like the previous generations believed was the limits of their ability.
We help bridge the gaps and create pathways to get people to the help they need, when they need it. We offer help while they wait for the available program, group or agency to be able to help them further. We do this with an emphasis on Jesus Christ and teach them how to be more self-reliant. Thereby creating more sustainable help. We give them hope for a better future through relying on Jesus Christ. Not requiring belief in exchange for our services, but teaching how believing in and following Jesus Christ can improve their life.
